Background

Brawo specialises in hot stamping and the mechanical processing of non-ferrous metals, particularly brass and aluminum alloys. Despite having used an evaporative cooling system for more than 18 years, the company experienced a notable increase in indoor temperatures—especially during the hotter months. This prompted a reevaluation of their cooling approach and the adoption of a targeted solution to restore optimal indoor conditions. The new strategy focused not only on reducing temperatures but also on enhancing micro-ventilation through the controlled introduction of clean, filtered outdoor air.

The Solution

The industrial facility had been using 22 Breezair coolers from Seeley International, which had operated reliably for 18 years. Seeking to upgrade and boost system performance, the company partnered with Italkero—a Modena-based distributor with over 25 years of experience importing and supplying Seeley International products—to explore new solutions. Following detailed inspections and temperature assessments, it became clear that the existing system could no longer cope with rising outdoor temperatures and the added heat generated by the workstations. The upgrade involved replacing the outdated units with modern, energy-efficient models featuring digital controls. Additionally, the number of coolers was increased to 30, ensuring improved air exchange and maximizing the temperature differential achievable with the updated technology.

Results

The goals set for achieving optimal indoor climate conditions have been successfully realized. Currently, during the hotter months, the average indoor temperature consistently stays around 27–28°C. The digital control system enables the installation to be divided into four main zones, each consisting of roughly 7–8 units, allowing for more accurate and efficient management of individual areas. The project benefited from strong collaboration among all stakeholders. Once completed, the system underwent comprehensive performance testing, which confirmed that all targets and expectations had been fully met.
